Different types of Fish will require different environments and preparation. For example the required environments for Coldwater Fish and Tropical Fish will be contrasting. Coldwater Fish
As the name suggests Coldwater fish are groups of Fish Species that prefer to live in cool water temperatures. The Goldfish is perhaps the most popular Coldwater Fish Pet. The Goldfish has been kept by humans for over 1,000 years. Like many other Coldwater Fish, the Goldfish belongs to the Carp Family. Coldwater Fish tend to live longer than other groups of species. Common Goldfish have been known to live for over 20 years when fed a healthy and varied diet.
In preparing for Coldwater Fish you should a decent sized fish, tank, gravel, fish food, ornaments to keep the Fish stimulated and most importantly Fish Food! The tank should be kept at room temperature with no heating in the tank.
Tropical Fish
Tropical Fish species will come from a naturally warmer climate than on our own Irish waters. You will need to make time to ensure your tank is well prepared for any Fish. Setup will vary depending on whether the fish are saltwater or freshwater fish. For setting up your tank for your fish you will need a Thermometer, Filter, Gravel and something to tie up all the cables and prevent them from getting wet. All the equipment and the tank should be cleaned using water only. Using cleaning chemicals could make the Fish sick or even kill them.
Species of Tropical Fish can vary greatly in their temperament. Some are mild mannered and peaceful while other s can be aggressive. It is important to choose species that are compatible with one another. You should ask for Fish that are compatible when buying and type of Tropical Fish for a tank.
